We’d like to share with you some news that has filled us with immense joy in recent weeks: On the occasion of the Venice International Grand Prix, the Order of the Golden Lion committee has decided to award the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to the great drummer Tullio De Piscopo! The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Palazzo della Regione Veneto, followed by the artist’s visit to the prestigious Hotel Danieli at 2:00 p.m.
Learning that one of the artists with whom we have been actively collaborating for several years at Ubi Major and Zenart—and of whom we are also huge admirers and fans—has won such a prestigious award couldn’t help but make us truly happy!
And to dedicate the entire day of June 24th to Maestro De Piscopo, at 6:00 PM, the 121 Saint Mark Band orchestra from the Gran Caffè Quadri will pay homage to Tullio De Piscopo with a performance of a piece from his musical repertoire.
A drummer, singer-songwriter, and all-round percussionist, Tullio De Piscopo has helped export the intensity and vivacity of “Neapolitan” sounds worldwide thanks to his jazz and blues sounds, rich with African and Latin influences. A musician of caliber and an exceptional jazz musician, he boasts prestigious collaborations, major successes as a singer and songwriter, and countless television appearances. His ability to connect with the audience, his warm approach to the instrument, and his generosity on stage make Tullio De Piscopo much loved by audiences, who follow him in his captivating performances. On the art scene since 1974, he has also published a book: “Tempo! La mia vita” (Hoepli).
